Find out more and share your thoughts about transit in Broomfield!

Transit—including buses, trains, shuttles and vans—that are available to the public, is a key component of inclusive and sustainable communities. The City and County of Broomfield is conducting a study to identify ways to improve transit access for all ages, abilities and income levels. Your input will be used to help guide recommendations for transit service improvements.

Project Overview

Broomfield continues to grow and change and so do the mobility needs of its residents. A transit study will help identify ways to improve transit access both now and into the future. By taking a close look at community demographics, travel patterns, planned developments and current transit services, the project team will be able to understand current and future mobility needs and identify gaps in the current transit network. Using these findings and community input, the study will recommend ways to improve transit service in Broomfield.

Community Engagement

Share your thoughts by participating in the Broomfield Transit Study! Public input is a key part of this study. Input will be gathered in two phases: at the beginning of the project to help develop recommendations and near the end of the project to get feedback on the draft recommendations.

Phase One (June-October 2024) - Complete

The first round of outreach included surveys, pop-up events, an online mapping tool, and focus groups. This effort engaged more than 3,000 residents and provided valuable insights into community needs.

Phase Two (June-August 2025):

Phase two engagement is underway! The project team will share what was learned and how public feedback has influenced the draft recommendations. Community input during this phase will help finalize the plan and ensure it reflects Broomfield’s current and future transit needs.

Community members now have an opportunity to review and comment on the draft recommendations. Summer engagement activities will include:

  • Online engagement opportunities—the Weigh-In Workbook is currently live and will be available through August 6.
  • In-person pop-up events (kicking off at BrewHaHa)

These recommendations were developed based on community input gathered during last summer and fall’s public engagement campaign and a comprehensive analysis of community trends, travel patterns and current transit service. The presentation highlighted how both public feedback and data-driven insights shaped the proposed improvements, which are now being shared with the broader community for additional input.

The first round of public engagement for the Broomfield Transit Study has concluded and was a huge success. With a combined virtual and in-person approach, the project has been able to reach over 3,000 people through pop-up events, surveys, website updates, one-on-one interviews and focus group meetings. Thanks to all who provided their input and feedback. The project team will analyze this information over the coming months to help inform the study recommendations.

Over 2,500 people visited the project website - 56 feedback pins were added to the Transit Input Map and over 500 people took the online survey.

In addition to online engagement, the project team held 18 pop-up events across the community at locations and events including Broomfield FISH, The Refuge, Broomfield Community Center, Broomfield Workforce Center, Broomfield & US 36 Station, Broomfield Farmers Market, Bike to Work Day, Summer Concerts at Midway Park and Anthem Community Park, the Depot Museum, National Night Out, Garden Center Apartments, Broomfield Days and the Living in Balance Aging Well Expo. Over 450 people engaged with the project team at these events and shared their thoughts about current transit service and ways that the system could better meet their needs.

Three focus groups with representatives from community organizations or advocates serving older adults, Veterans, individuals with disabilities, youth and lower-income families were attended by 34 representatives who provided insights into the needs of their clients.

Two surveys were also completed in the first round of engagement: one online open community survey and one targeted, statistically valid survey. Over 900 people participated in the survey efforts.

Thank you again to everyone who took the time to participate. Your feedback will guide the recommendations of the study and help improve transit options in Broomfield. The second round of public engagement is planned for the Spring of 2025 where participants will be able to provide feedback on the draft study recommendations.
