The City and County of Broomfield is updating its Hazard Mitigation Plan in 2022 per the five-year update cycle required by FEMA and the federal Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000.

The Hazard Mitigation Plan analyzes Broomfield's vulnerabilities to natural and human-caused hazards and identifies mitigation actions the City can take to minimize property damage and reduce the loss of life by lessening the impacts of disasters.

In July 2021, a community survey was made available. Feedback was also collected throughout the month of April 2022 to be considered while updating Broomfield's Hazard Mitigation Plan. This plan helps prepare for natural and human-caused disasters such as floods, severe weather, or cyber-attacks by identifying ways to reduce losses and impact, and protecting the community from hazard events before they occur.
