County Road 7 Renaming to Promenade Street

Project Overview

North Metro Fire Rescue District (NMFD) has submitted a request for the City Council's consideration to rename the portion of County Road 7 located within Broomfield. County Road 7 runs generally north from State Highway 7 to Lowell Lane (the county line with Weld County). County Road 7 aligns with the future alignment of Promenade Street (located on the south side of State Highway 7) in the Baseline development.

NMFD's request notes that it is the District's belief that major thoroughfares—especially those crossing other primary roads like State Highway 7— should carry a single, consistent name to avoid confusion for responders and the public. The Fire District notes that by renaming County Road 7 to Promenade Street, it would create continuous street names across State Highway 7, which is, in their opinion, an improvement over having County Road 7 and Promenade Street divided at State Highway 7.

There are no businesses or residential lots/homes addressed off of County Road 7 within the stretch of the roadway in Broomfield. There are limited parcels with County Road 7 addresses; the majority are owned by Broomfield, there is only 1 parcel privately owned, and it is a detention pond. As such, the renaming of the street would have minimal impacts on property addresses. The maps below show the parcels impacted by this street name change with current addresses (the first map) and the proposed new addresses (second map).

If the renaming is approved, notices will be sent out to surrounding property owners notifying them of the name change. The existing County Road 7 street signs will be replaced. These street sign changes are anticipated to take place in mid January 2026.

Members of the public can attend the public hearings and provide in person comments if desired.
