Phase 2 Engagement Summary

Thank you to everyone who participated in the in-person and virtual Broomfield Transportation Safety Action Plan (BTSAP) Open Houses! Key themes identified include:

High Injury Network Projects. Participants indicated their desire to see the projects identified as part of the High Injury Network be accomplished. This could include:

  • Flashing yellow arrow signal phasing
  • Protected left turns Shift left turn lanes for better visibility (positive offset)
  • Improved sight distance at corners (daylighting)
  • Right turn “slip lane” angle shifted for better visibility
  • Retroreflective signal head backplates
  • Speed limit reviews

Enhance Pedestrian and Cyclist Safety. Stakeholders and community members indicated their desire to see additional pedestrian and cyclist infrastructure, creating a separation for nonmotorized vehicles. This could include optimized signal timing, pedestrian crossing treatments and updated guidelines and standards.

Speed Control and Enforcement. There were additional calls to enforce current speed limits better and implement infrastructure, such as speed cameras, that may help with enforcement efforts.

Intersection Safety and Roundabout Advocacy. Emphasis on replacing some signalized intersections with roundabouts to reduce crashes and improve traffic flow.
