The law requires Broomfield's Wards to each have approximately the same number of residents. Because of recent growth, it is time to update our boundaries.

Broomfield created three options for redistricting, and asked for public feedback. When creating these options, Broomfield continued to meet these charter requirements:

  • Contiguous Compact
  • Approximately same number of voters
  • Cannot exclude a Councilmember from office before the expiration of the term for which they were elected

The following were also considered:

  • School district boundaries
  • Keeping neighborhoods together
  • Placing boundaries with major cross streets or natural borders
  • Future growth

As the City and County of Broomfield moves forward with redistricting, districts will not be arranged around term-limited councilmembers; Councilmembers will serve their final year, but their district may change before the next election.
