In February 2020, Broomfield City Council passed Resolution 2020-65 establishing Zero Waste as a priority and set forth the goals of 50% diversion by 2025 and 100% diversion by 2035. 

Funded through a grant from the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, Broomfield hires Zero Waste Associates to support a strategic planning effort to draft a zero waste action plan. 

In February of 2022, the Zero Waste Action plan is presented to Broomfield's City Council.
