    Antonella ‘Enea’ Hempelmann is an accomplished member of the Broomfield Police Department, serving the Broomfield community for nearly 25 years.  She is currently the Deputy Chief of Operations but has worked as a Patrol Officer, School Resource Officer, and Detective in the Investigations Division. She served as a Sergeant in Patrol, Investigations, Professional Standards, and Community Affairs.  As a Commander, Deputy Chief Hempelmann oversaw the patrol division and special operations division while leading the SWAT-CNT team, Peer Support Team, and Solutions Committee.  She led teams comprised of sworn and non-sworn employees to identify and implement the department’s core values.  Throughout her career, Deputy Chief Hempelmann has established her reputation for building relationships with her colleagues, employees, civilian employees, law enforcement partners outside of the police department and other employees of the City and County of Broomfield.  As an Executive Leader she oversees the Operations Bureau- Patrol, Special Operations, and Investigations Division.  During her tenure, she has been awarded both Officer of the Year and Supervisor of the Year. She has received a number of accolades and honors of Meritorious Service due to her exemplary investigative work.

    In addition to serving the Broomfield community, Deputy Chief Hempelmann has devoted much of her career in developing her leadership skills and passing those on to future leaders in the Broomfield Police Department.

    Her education includes a Bachelor’s Degree from Metropolitan State University of Denver. She recently attended Senior Management Institute for Police through Police Executive Research Forum.  She graduated with honors from Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command where she served as Vice President. She has graduated from Leadership in Police Organizations. Her professional affiliations include International Association of Chiefs Police, Colorado Association of Chiefs of Police and Police Executive Research Forum.   

    Deputy Chief Hempelmann will continue to serve the citizens of Broomfield and the employees of the Broomfield Police Department by fostering a culture of teamwork, respect and service all while implementing modern day police philosophy and practices.  As a Chief, her passion is in developing strong leaders throughout the Broomfield Police Department who will continue to serve the community for years to come. 

    Deputy Chief Hempelmann came to United States from Italy and moved to the Westminster area as a young child.  She is fluent in Spanish and Italian.  When she is not working, Deputy Chief Hempelmann enjoys spending time with her husband, three beautiful daughters and extended family.  She loves cooking traditional Italian food, spending time in the mountains, and travelling to new places.
