One Book One Broomfield

One Book One Broomfield is a city-wide reading and discussion program that encourages citizens to read the same book at the same time to create a shared sense of community through literature. This year's selection is "Lucky Boy" by Shanthi Sekaran; a gripping tale of two mothers and two very different pictures of immigration.

The overall theme of the program revolves around migration and movement. The Broomfield Library and Cultural Affairs department will be facilitating activities & discussions around these themes both on Broomfield Voice and social media leading up to the author talk on November 3rd. The goal is to engage the community in conversation and get to know how readers and their own families wound up in Broomfield.

Here are some of the things you can look forward to!

  • Interactive surveys, poll, and discussion forums to get to know your community and fellow readers!
  • Reader check-ins to ask what your thoughts are on the story so far! Don't worry; no spoilers.
  • An evening with author Shanthi Sekaran with opportunities for questions and conversations, and fun themed activities!
  • Interviews with local residents sharing their own stories of migration; Maybe YOU!
