Wildland-Urban Interface Ground Truthing in Wilcox Area Begins

The City and County of Broomfield has hired Blue Mountain Environmental to conduct ground truthing efforts to generate a local Wildland-Urban Interface (WUI) map. Work will begin in the Wilcox area north of 144th Avenue, south of 152nd Avenue, east of Lowell Boulevard and west of Zuni Street.

Project Details:

  • Start date: Monday or Tuesday, Sept. 8-9
  • Duration: Four days
  • Purpose: Detailed assessment of vegetative fuel types and landscaping

What Residents Should Know: Blue Mountain Environmental staff will conduct assessments from the public right-of-way only. No access to private property is required, though staff will need to observe vegetation and surface improvements on private property from the roadway. Team members will wear high-visibility safety vests and may use binoculars for detailed assessments
