2024 Code Update Adoption

Project Summary

In order to stay up to date with current building and life safety standards, the Broomfield Building Division will be adopting the 2024 version of the International Building Code (IBC). Broomfield has tentatively scheduled the first reading for the 2024 Code update package for Tuesday January 27, 2026 and the second and final reading for Tuesday February 24, 2026. We will have a proposed effective date for any permit issued as of April 15, 2026 to meet these updated codes.

Staff will be hosting a public meeting on Thursday, October 16, 2025 from 1:00pm - 3:00pm in the City Council Chambers to discuss this proposed change. Attendees will be able to ask questions and provide public comment related to the code adoption.
